DRY CREEK VALLEY

A unique gravelly soil material, only found in Sonoma, is located in the highlands of Dry Creek Valley, also known as the "Zin Zone". Known today for its intensely extracted Zinfandel wines, the Dry Creek Valley is one step further away from the ocean and thus higher up on the temperature scale.

Once the evening fog has worked its way up the entire length of the Russian River Valley, it can then head north into the Dry Creek Valley. Thus fog intrusion happens later in the evening and its cooling impact is less intense. The warmer growing climate produces fruit with slightly less acidity, but greater richness of color, tannin, and flavor extraction.
