Whether you're shopping for your parents or your special loved one, here's a guide to help you choose a Valentines Day wine most suited to your tastes.

Chardonay Glass

Chardonay

A strong white wine, chardonnay has a tart grape taste.   Not a sweet wine, Chardonnay feels rich in the mouth, leading some people to describe it as buttery.   If your Valentine regularly drinks white wine, Chardonnay is a good choice; if not, you may want to choose something sweeter.

Merlot Glass

Merlot

Considered an introductory red wine, Merlot is smooth, slightly sweet, and lacks the intense bitterness of some reds.  While it's a favorite of beginning red wine drinkers, Merlot sometimes proves itself too bitter for people who are new to wine all-together.

Pinot Grigio Glass

Pinot Grigio

Also called Pinot Gris, this is a slightly sweet white wine.   Not overly bitter or sour, Pinot Grigio is a favorite among people new to wine.

Pinot Noir Glass

Pinot Noir

A sophisticated red, Pinot Noir is famous for its delicate flavors.   Not overpowering, it also lacks the intense bitterness of other reds. Pinot Noir can be slightly sweet, but true to its reputation, not overwhelmingly so.

White Zinfandel Glass

White Zinfandel

The sweetest of wines, White Zinfandel has a strawberry color and a fruity taste.   Perfect for beginning wine drinkers, most experienced wine drinkers enjoy wines that are less sweet.
