How to serve Sparkling Wine

To preserve its delicate flavor and effervescence, sparkling wine should always be served well-chilled. Place it in the refrigerator for at least 3-4 hours before serving. Then, set your bottle in an ice bucket filled with water and ice, which will keep it at the right temperature as you drink it. Ice buckets will also add an elegant touch, but commercial refrigeration may be most practical for large receptions.

Opening the Bottle

First, peel away the foil. Next, hold the top of the cork with your finger and remove the wire hood. Hold the bottle away from yoursel, and others, at about a 45 degree angle. When you are ready, hold the base or center of the bottle firmly and slowly twist the bottle. Push down against the cork and slowly release it.
