Recipe:
Pork Roast
- 2 1/2 pounds pork shoulder
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 yellow onion (chopped)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoons dry mustard
- 2 tablespoons ground black pepper
- 2 cups water or chicken stock
Saute garlic and onion and olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat until onion becomes translucent. Add pork, searing 5 minutes per side. Reduce heat and add soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, pepper, and water or chicken stock. Simmering, stir occasionally for 2 and 1/2 to 3 hours until pork is tender. Cut into 1/2 inch slices and garnish with red bell peppers.
Wine Pairing Gallo Family Vineyards Sonoma Syrah
This wine expresses itself with rich, ripe plum flavors with hints of vanilla and black pepper in the nose. The wine is medium bodied with soft supple and sophisticated tannins underscored by hints of dark chocolate on the finish.
